Abstract

1329628 Gettering SIEMENS AG 9 Nov 1971 [21 Dec 1970] 47618/71 Heading H1D A gettering element for use at room temperature in an electrical discharge vessel comprises a highly porous gettering member consisting of a sintered mixture of at least 70% by weight of zirconium and up to 30% by weight of carbon and housed in an open container of hightemperature resistant material, such as molybdenum or carbon. Metallic elements such as wires or caps may be provided to secure the member in the container and when the latter is also metallic they can be welded thereto.
