Abstract
1342543 Terminals BROWN BOVERI & CIE AG 25 Oct 1971 [31 Oct 1970] 49506/71 Heading H2E A switch or other electrical device has terminals 3 locked in place in cavities 7 by engagement of tongues 15 with shoulders 17 or (Fig. 2, not shown) of recesses (16) with lugs (18). A conductor 21 is inserted into a cavity 7 and clamped against terminal 3 by a prestressed leaf spring 6. Spring 6 is substantially flat in its unstressed condition. It is held in place by a projection 9 of the housing near one end and by engagement of its other end 12 with a groove 13 in the housing. Spring'6 is prestressed by an arm 10. The spring 6 is inserted with the aid of a pressure tool (23, Fig. 4, not shown) applied near end 12. The wire can be released by inserting a pressure tool 22 through aperture 20 so as to bear on the spring. In a switch having contacts 4, 5 and a cam rod 2, the terminals are arranged along opposite sides of the housing in two rows parallel to cam rod 2 (Fig. 3, not shown). Each spring 6 may be of single-finger or multi-finger form (Fig. 3, not shown). Reliable clamping is assisted by the angle at which spring 6 bears on wire 21.
