Abstract

Improvements introduced into an electrical connector to releasably interconnect a first and a second electrical conductor inserted axially into the connector in opposite directions, the connector comprising an insulating housing having, at one of two opposite ends of the housing, a first opening for receiving the first conductor and at the other of the two opposite ends a second opening to receive the second conductor, and an elastic, metallic contact element within the housing and comprising first and second arms that extend in the same general direction from a bridge, to be elastically coupled to the conductors simultaneously between them, the bridge having an opening aligned with the second opening of the housing, to receive the second conductor, characterized in that the contact element has a detent member adjacent to the first opening of the housing to restrict or limit l the removal of the first conductor when it has been inserted between the arms, the connector having a stop surface next to, but displaced from, the second opening of the housing, to contact the front end of the first conductor.
