Abstract

1404716 Two part coupling AMP Inc 31 Jan 1973 [29 Feb 1972] 4918/73 Heading H2E A connector comprising a spring clip 2 latched into an insulating housing 28 releasably interconnects external male contacts 56 entering via the open end 49 of the housing and 60 (not shown) entering via aperture 34 in the opposite end. The spring 8 shown in half section comprises loop 6 having firstly a flat limb 4, with depressed centre section 26 and upwardly bent flanks and end forming a detent 12, secondly a bowed and cross arched limb 8, and thirdly side lugs 20 carrying catches 22. On insertion into the housing the catches latch behind projections 45 in the housing wall, the end of limb 8 bears against wall 52 and the depressed section 26 bears against wall 50. The centre section of the loop is cut out 16 to allow entry of contact 60 (not shown) and intrusion of step 36 on the housing, so that contact 56 may enter until it abuts step 36, lifting the detent 12 so that edge 14 bites into contact 56 to restrain withdrawal, after which contact 60 (not shown) may be inserted between contact 56 and the arched underside of the bow of limb 8. Contact 56 may be withdrawn by lifting detent 12 by means of an L-shaped tool inserted in recess 53 in the end of the housing.
