Abstract
1341119 Velocity - modulated tubes LITTON INDUSTRIES Inc 11 Nov 1971 [2 Dec 1970] 52507/71 Heading H1D The collector structure of a travelling-wave tube or klystron for depressed collector operation is formed by an earthed shielding copper cylinder 21 and an inner copper cylinder 23 maintained in position by the engagement of heat-conductive electrically-insulating spheres 47 seated in part spherical indentations formed in the facing surfaces of the two cylinders, whereby the use of brazing is avoided. Spheres 47 are preferably of aluminium oxide or beryllium oxide. The structure has a molybdenum entry orifice 25, and a copper plug 29 connected by lead 39 to a terminal 37 secured in an aluminium oxide disc 35. The method of manufacture is disclosed, and is claimed in the Divisional Specification 1,341,120 (see Division B3).
