Abstract
1331379 Pneumatic control of fibres in rectilinear combing machines SANT'ANDREA NOVARA OFFICINE MECCANICHE E FONDERIE SpA 30 July 1971 36007/71 Headings D1F and D1N In a rectilinear combing machine having a feeder device 1, an extractor device 12, a circular comb 8 and a rectilinear comb 19 during combing of the tail end of a bunch of fibres by the comb 19 suction is applied by a duct 23 to break the fibres from the web 3 and ensure they lay evenly on the leather extractor belt 13. As the leading fibres are combed by comb 8 suction is switched by means of a flap valve 27 to duct 24 to clean the comb teeth 11. Flap 27 is controlled by a crank integral with or attached to comb 8. The leading fibres are conveyed to the extractor 12 by an extensible transfer blade 7. The, fibre web 3 is advanced by reciprocation of a carriage 2 in which the web is anchored by a vertically reciprocable comb 2a. Roller 14 about which the belt 13 extends is fluted and cooperates with a further fluted roller 17 to form a nip for the extractor 12 the whole of which reciprocates horizontally to draw the fibres through the comb 19. The operating cycle of the machine is described and illustrated in detail.
