1328404 Non-woven fabrics CARL FREUDENBERG 23 Oct 1970 [24 Oct 1969] 50523/ 70 Heading D2B A bonded non-woven fabric is made by forming an aqueous slurry of textile fibres having a length greater than 4 mm. and a solid particulate thermoplastic binder, the fibres being present in an amount of less than 0.5% by wt. of the water and the binder in an amount of 10-30% by wt. of the fibres, filtering the slurry on a screen of mesh size larger than the size of the binder particles to form a web, and heating the web to dry it and to soften the binder particles. The textile fibres may be wool, cotton, regenerated cellulose, nylon, or polyester. The thermoplastic material may be polyethylene or polyvinyl acetate. To promote bonding, the web may be pressed.
