Abstract

1336214 Water proofing KIMBERLYOLARK CORP 19 April 1971 [25 March 1970] 25560/71 Heading DIP [Also in Division B5] Single or multiple ply cellulose wadding having a basis weight of at least 9lbs and a burley porosity of at least 1 in the form of a non- woven material is impregnated with an aqueous solution or dispersion of a water-repellant e.g. a fluorochemical, wax dispersion, pyridinium salt or a curable resin. The non-woven material may be in the form of a laminated structure consisting of alternate layers of cellulose wadding and reinforcing material bonded together by an adhesive with a low level of surfactant e.g. PVC in dioctyl phthalate plasticiser. The reinforcing material may be non- woven scrim consisting of crossed over sets of threads bonded at their points of intersection, webs of continuous thermoplastic filaments, drafted webs and carded fibre webs. The reinforcing material may consist of nylon, glass fibres, polypropylene, rayon and cotton.
