De-gumming silk.-Silk is de-gummed by treatment with super-oxides such as hydrogen peroxide, sodium peroxide, or the like, or other oxidizing-substances such as per-borates, together with or before treatment with boiling soap solution. According to the Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) the process is applicable to other fibres such as flax, linen, ramie, and gorse, borax and soda solutions can be used as alternatives to the soap solution, and gelatinous bodies can be added to the boiling liquor to hasten and improve the de-gumming. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
