Abstract
1318397 Ozonizers DEGREMONT SOC GENERALE D'EPURATION ET D'ASSAINISSMENT 3 June 1970 [5 June 1969] 26859/70 Heading H5H An ozonizer comprises an outer tubular electrode 10 surrounding an open-ended dielectric tube 1 of e.g. glass coated internally with a metal to form an electrode 2. The ends 3 of dielectric tube 1 are uncoated. The outer electrode 10 is earthed whilst the inner electrode 2 is connected to a high voltage supply by means of a contact brush 7 engaging the metal coating. The brush 7 is carried by a metal rod 6 which passes freely through a passage 5 in an end cap 4. Cap 4 is provided with a resilient sealing ring 8 and with corrugations 9 to prevent flash over, A similar end cap may be provided for the same purpose at the other end of tube 1. The outer electrode 10 is water cooled and the inner electrode 2 is cooled by air flowing through it via passage 5. Air is admitted to discharge gap 12 in the direction of arrow A. In an alternative embodiment (Fig 3, not shown) two ozonizers similar to the above are placed in a chamber supplied with air and to ensure that the air flow is the same through the ozonizers each end cap extends across the entrance to the discharge gap. Air is admitted to the discharge gaps only through passages in the end caps. These end caps may serve to centre the dielectric tube 1 in the outer metal electrode (Fig. 4, not shown).
