Abstract

1,205,684. Gas-scrubber. C.I.T.-COMAGNIE INDUSTRIELLE DES TELECOMMUNICA- ,TIONS. 30 Sept., 1968 [29 Sept., 1967], No. 46248/68. Heading B1R. In a gas-scrubber wherein the gas to be scrubbed is introduced tangentially at 2 into a vessel 1, sprayed with a scrubbing liquid from nozzles 8 and a mixture of gas and liquid is withdrawn upwards through a central tube 5 ,with its lower end 6 opening into the lower part of the vessel 1, the tube 5 comprises a section 7 constituted by a solenoid connected to a variable frequency electric power generator 10, the solenoid section 7 being electrically insulated from the vessel. On the outside of the solenoid fins 11 prevent direct passage of gas into the tube 5 and inside the solenoid has spikes 12. The solenoid may be formed of tubing and a cooling fluid circulated therethrough. The solenoid may be wound on an insulating mandrel or be coated with an insulating material. The portion 6 is constructed as described in Specification 1,184,389 (Divisions B1-B2) to regulate the rate of flow of the gas into the tube 5. The nozzles 8 are insulated from the walls supporting them and are connected to an electrostatic generator 9. The generator 10 can supply to the solenoid an alternating current of ultrasonic frequency.
