Abstract

1318349 Skips H E TITLEY and W J HARRIS 19 April 1971 [21 Oct 1969] 51520/69 Heading B8H A container is provided at each side with a pair of lower trunnions 4, one of which is engaged in a slot 10 in a lifting arm 6, 7, and an upper trunnion 2 which is adapted to be engaged by a hook 11 formed on the lifting arm. The arrangement is such that when the lifting arms are raised, by a crane hook engaging a stirrup 8, so that the hooks 11 engage the trunnions 2, the container is lifted on an even keel. When the lifting arms are raised such that the hooks 11 do not engage the trunnions 2, the container tips to discharge its contents, Figs. 3- 5 (not shown). In a modification, Fig. 10 (not shown), the container rim is formed with a lip to facilitate tipping of the container against a tipping rail.
