Abstract
1,123,040. Ship's derricks. BLOHM & VOSS A.G. 25 July, 1967 [18 Nov., 1966], No. 34009/67. Heading B8B. In a ship's derrick having a boom 3, Fig. 1, which can be swung over between a pair of posts 2 by span tackles 9, an upper load block 16 is supported by a swivel 18 from a pendant 17 mounted at one side of the boom on a transverse head-pin 5. When the boom is swung over the upper block 16 is rotated on the swivel 18 by a lug 20, Fig. 3, on the boom which cooperates with a pair of oppositely directed lugs 19 on the block. So that the parts 21, 22 of the hoisting cable do not rub against each other the pulleys in the block 16 are arranged one above the other and the top pulley is larger than the bottom one. This also avoids loading the block eccentrically.
