Abstract
1,232,873. Ship's gantry cranes. BIURO PROJEKTOW BUDOWNICTWA MORSKIEGO. 2 July, 1968, No. 31624/68. Heading B8B. In a ship's gantry crane a girder 5, Fig. 1, which supports the crab 6 is pivoted to the midpoint of a travelling gantry 1 so that it can swing through 180 degrees. The hoist winch 8 and crab traverse gear 10 are housed in a cab 7 which acts as a counterweight. The girder 5 is attached to one of the legs 2 of the gantry during use and is stowed lengthwise of the deck. In a second embodiment, Fig. 4, the crab-supporting girder 5 is pivoted above the gantry and is thus able to pivot through 360 degrees. In both embodiments the legs 2 are L-shaped, Fig. 3 (not shown).
