Abstract
1,190,911. Ship's derricks. R. MORRISON. 24 May, 1967 [25 Feb., 1966; 26 Feb., 1966], Nos. 8321/66 and 8588/66. Heading B8B. To minimize swinging of the load hook of a ship's derrick having a cross beam 2, Fig. 1, the combined lifting and slewing rope passes from a winch round the following pulleys: 3, 4A, 5, 4B, 6, 7, 6, 4B, 5, 4A, 3 and either back to the winch or to a fixed point. To provide a sixpart instead of a four-part purchase the pulley 7 is moved and attached to the load block 5. Fig. 3 illustrates an embodiment in which the four falls are all separated by mounting the pulleys 4A at the ends of a beam 2A. A sixpart purchase can be provided as described with ref. to Fig. 1.
