Abstract

1,268,041. Jib cranes. SPEEDORANES Ltd. 21 March, 1969 [21 Dec., 1967; 2 April, 1968], Nos. 58248/67 and 15753/68. Heading B8B. A jib crane or swinging derrick includes load conversion means to provide for lifting either light or heavy loads without re-reeving the lifting line. As shown in Fig. 1, a load line A passes over pulleys C, D to a load hook B. A pulley block E is shown in full lines attached to the jib in an inoperative position. Double full lifting is achieved by releasing block E and using it as a load block, the hook B being attached to the jib. Treble fall lifting, shown dotted, is obtained by attaching the hook B to the block E. Fig. 3 shows an arrangement with a pulley D 2 attached to the mast so as to provide topping relief. Two additional cargo blocks E 1 , E 2 are provided and by using one or both these with the hook B attached either to the jib or to the cargo block(s) from one to five fall lifting is obtained. Fig. 8 shows an arrangement whereby two, four or six fall lifting is provided and an antipendulum effect obtained. In this arrangement, P is a friction block attached between the ends of joint lifting lines A1, A2 by shackles X, Y. The lines A1, A2 may be connected to twin barrels of the winch, or two each of the two parts of a single barrel with a central flange
