Abstract

1404136 Mobile tower cranes GENERAL CRANE INDUSTRIES Ltd 3 Nov 1972 [4 Nov 1971] 51290/71 Heading B8B A mobile tower crane comprises a trailer with a flat chassis portion 30 with side members 12 extending upwardly therefrom and spaced to accommodate the tower 14 in its travelling position shown in Fig. 2. The base of the tower 14 is pivoted at 13 in bearings 13a on the side members 12 and can be pivoted into its vertical, operating position by a pair of hydraulic rams 15. The base of the tower 14 is provided with a pair of locking pins 40, Fig. 4, slidable in guides 42, 41 by cylinders 43 to engage bores 38a in plates 38 provided on the side members 12 to hold the tower 14 in its vertical position, correct positioning being ensured by co-operating plates 50, 52 respectively mounted on the tower base and on the plates 38.
