Abstract

1,210,775. Container traffic. ACKERMANN FAHRZEUGBAU, and TOUSSAINT & HESS HYDRAULISCHE HEBEZEUGFABRIK G.m.b.H. 17 July, 1969 [2 May, 1969], No. 36141/69. Heading B8Q. Containers 13, Fig. 5, are loaded on to vehicles by pivoted arms 14 which in the loading position shown do not extend across the ends of the container and can therefore lift containers which are closely spaced end-to-end. Rams 18 pivot the arms 14 between operative and inoperative positions about pins 17. Portions 21, 22 of a two-stage cam extend the inner telescopic portions 16 of the arms 14 with respect to the bases 15, and portions 22, 23 operate a lifting rope 25. Stabilizing arms 31 are extended by rams 34 and pressed against the ground by rams 38 and toggle links 37. Locating studs 29, 30 are provided for the container. Fig. 6 shows a second embodiment in which luffable arms 44 support a container 13 from the top of pivoted arms 42 of fixed length. In both embodiments the loading arms may be moved towards or away from each other for handling containers of different lengths.
