Abstract

1317096 Valves K O ARISLAND 19 April 1971 [6 April 1970] 26179/71 Heading F2V A valve for suction tubes, e.g. in suction hoses, straws, lip-cups, feeding bottle suckers for babies or in space ships, is arranged automatically to relieve vacuum in a container when suction ceases and also to close on overpressure in the container to prevent escape of liquid. The valve is responsive to pressure variations on both sides relative to the container. As shown, two valve closures 6a, 6b in series are fast with a piston 4 which is exposed to atmospheric pressure on the side remote from the closures through a passage 8. Three other embodiments, Figs. 2 to 4 (not shown), are differently arranged. In Fig. 2, arrangement is similar to that of Fig. 1 excepting that the closure 6a is omitted. In Fig. 3, two closure members (16) are interconnected by a rack and pinion device (17, 18) so as to open and close together in the axial direction of the tube.
