Abstract
1315283 Arc gauge Y NUMATA 30 March 1972 [19 Aug 1971] 15083/72 Heading G1M An arc gauge comprises a gauge plate 3, a rod 10 fixed to the plate 3 at one end, guides 5' which maintain the rod 10 parallel to the plate 3, and moving means for moving the other end of the rod relative to the plate to produce an arcuate shape in the gauge plate. The moving means may comprise a rod 11 screw threaded into a member 1 attached to the plate, the rod 11 abutting member 8' secured to the rod 10 and being rotated by the arrangement shown in Fig. 3. A case 15 is adapted to be secured to the member 1 by means of flexure strips 19 and 20 and a clamping screw 23 which engages a hole in member 1. A spindle 13 is rotated by means of a graduated thimble 12, and rotates the threaded rod 11' towards which it is biased by spring 18. Alternatively, rod 11' may be unthreaded, and spindle 13 may threadably engage the case 15. The guides 5' may have a simple aperture for guiding rod 10, Fig.4 (not shown), or may include a pair of guide rollers, Fig. 8 (not shown). A second gauge plate 9, Fig. 2 (not shown), may be provided on the opposite side of rod 10 to plate 3, the plate 9 abutting member 4 at one end and being secured to member 8 at the other, whereby the gauge may then be used for gauging concave as well as convex shapes.
