Abstract
1314388 Resistors FOSTER TRANS- FORMERS Ltd 22 Sept 1971 [13 July 1970] 33921/70 Heading HIS A method of making a resistor comprises screen printing a resistive track on to a cylin- drical body having an insulating surface. In the embodiment a tube 10 is made of ceramics or alkali-free glass and provided with metal end caps 11 and 12 as terminals. In the printing process, a stretched screen which is coated with photosensitive emulsion into which the resistor track pattern is etched, is coated with a thick film resistive ink and then drawn between a squeegee and the tube causing the tube to rotate to effect printing around the tube. The tube is then fired. Conductive areas 20, 21 may be applied in a further screen printing process using silver or gold inks. The resistance of the manufactured resistor can be increased to a desired value by removing a portion of the resistive track by etching. The resistor may be non- linear.
