Abstract
1313870 Developing electrostatic images XEROX CORP 30 June 1970 [3 July 1969] 31612/70 Heading G2H An electrostatic image is developed by means of a powder cloud and the developed image brushed to move toner from non-image areas to image areas. A flow of toner from a dispenser 18 is effected by flexible wires 26 extending through perforations, the size of which is variable, in the base of the dispenser 18 and fixed at one end to a cloud generator box 12 comprising a plurality of compartments Fig.3 (not shown) which is oscillated to create a cloud of charged toner particles which are attracted through a mesh screen 13 to the latent image on the drum 1. The carrier particles of the developer remain within the box 12. The generator box may be held at a potential and is attached to the dispenser 18 by a rubber membrane 19. Adjacent the generator 12 a rabbit fur brush 29 is mounted on a pad 30 which is oscillated by a motor 34 parallel to the axis of rotation of the drum 1 to remove toner from non-image areas and transfer it to image areas. The pad 30 may be held at a fixed potential.
