Abstract

1311905 Two-part coupling CLANG Ltd and H E AUSTEN 10 June 1970 28118/70 Addition to 1286078 Heading H2E An abrupt release electrical coupling comprises a plug part 1 and a socket part 2 coupled together by a frangible means which is engageable with both parts by angular displacement relative to them and without disconnecting cables to them, the means breaking when subjected to mechanical shock to permit the parts to separate. As shown the means is a ring 3 of plastics material or a ceramic and has an internal lip 4 which engages a lip 5 of the plug, projections 7 of the ring passing between projections 6 of the plug and engaging behind them. An internal thread of the ring engages a corresponding external thread of the socket. The projections on the plug and ring may be eccentric. The plug and socket parts may be reversed with respect to the ring.
