1311694 Silver plating nickel-iron alloys TELCON METALS Ltd 17 Sept 1971 [18 Sept 1970] 44647/70 Heading C7B Ni-Fe or Ni-Co-Fe (e.g. 29 Ni-17Co-54 Fe) alloy lead frames e.g. 0À01" thick for microelectronic circuits are coated with Ag plate e.g. 0À0003 "thick by electro-chemically cleaning the alloy, e.g. cathodically, in an acid bath e.g. containing 5% nitric acid and o-phosphoric acid, applying thereto a Cu or Ni coating, e. g. by flash plating in a copper cyanide or nickel sulphamate bath, optionally flash Au plating in a cyanide bath, and then Ag plating e. g. in a silver cyanide bath. Additional washing may be carried out prior to cathodic cleaning using e. g. trichlorocthylene for degreasing, then cathodic cleaning in a hot alkaline bath comprising NaOH, Na 3 Po 4 and wetting agent.
