Abstract
759,222. Electrolytic polishing of gold alloys. DEUTSCHE GOLD-UND SILBER-SCHEIDEANSTALT VORM. ROESSLER. June 17, 1954 [June 27, 1953], No. 17869/54. Addition to 723,945. Class 41. The process claimed in the parent Specification for the anodic polishing of the surface of an article of an alloy of gold with one or more baser metals is modified by including in the acid thiourea solution at least one metal compound yielding ions of the baser metal, or one of the baser metals. The metal compound may be one yielding ions of the basest metal in the alloy, and may be a copper salt, e.g. the copper salt of thiourea or copper sulphate, or may be a nickel salt, and may be in the proportion of 0.03 to 0.3 mol. per mol. of thiourea. The article is moved intermittently to assist in dissolving the anode coating formed during the process.
