Abstract

131,063. Rudge-Whitworth, Ltd., and Pugh, J. V. April 11, 1918. Projectile fuses.-Relates to direct-action percussion fuses in which a needle or striker, normally held in the safety position by a centrifugal device, is also retained by a shearing pin passing through it and is engaged by a guide-pin entering a groove in the side of the striker. According to the invention, the guide-pin and the shearing-pin are combined, and arranged in axial alinement. In the construction shown, the shearing-pin h is accommodated partly in a hole in the guide-pin f and passes through the striker b into a hole e<1> in the fuse-body. The head of the striker; with which engages a centrifugal safety-device comprising a metal tape c and a split collar c<1>, is normally enclosed in a removable cap d. A centrifugal shutter n is also provided.
