Abstract

1309577 Coating aluminium SHOWA ALUMINIUM KK 12 Oct 1970 [13 Oct 1969] 48306/70 Heading B2E [Also in Division C7] Aluminium or aluminium alloy is provided with a uniform, corrosion resistant coating by immersion for 5-60 minutes in a boiling aqueous solution containing 0.5-30 c.c./1 of monoethylamine and/or diethylamine, and the coated metal is treated with pressurised steam. The water may be heated to boiling before or after the addition of the amine. The surface of the metal may be degreased e.g. with a hot solution of caustic soda before being immersed in the amine solution.
