Abstract
1306995 Indicating curvature of gun barrel BOFORS AB 22 April 1970 [22 April 1969] 19345/70 Heading F3C A gun barrel 3 is provided with a source 5 of a narrow beam of light fixed relative to its rear end and a reflecting means 4 rigidly fixed to its muzzle end. The beam is projected on to the reflecting means 4 and passes to a means e.g. a detector 6 and indicator 7, fixed relative to the rear end of the barrel which means indicates the magnitude and direction of any curvature occurring in the barrel 3. In the construction shown the detector 6 and indicator 7 are integral and take the form of a prism (Fig. 4, not shown) and a calibrated plate (Fig. 3, not shown) respectively. The detector may be in the form of a number of photoconductive elements or if infra-red or ultra-violet wavelength are used for the beam of light a coating of phosphor material is provided on the rear face of the detector prism.
