Abstract
1309230 Laser range finder FRANCE ARMED FORCES MINISTER OF 3 Sept 1971 [8 Sept 1970] 41290/71 Heading G2J [Also in Divisions F3 and H4] An aiming device for attachment to the barrel 4 of a gun comprises a telescope 1, a reflection range finder 2, and controllable optical deflection means 3 which enable the target to be viewed and the range finder to operate when the gun barrel direction is varied to allow for the trajectory of the projectile, climatic conditions etc. As shown the range finder comprises a laser beam source 9 and a detector 10 for the beam reflected by the target, the time difference indicating the range. The optical deflection means may comprise two achromatic prisms 14, 15 which are rotatable by motors 16, 17 controlled by a computer 21 into which is fed the range and other data.
