Abstract

1306043 Regulating I. C. engines SOC INDUSTRIELLE DE BREVETS ET D'ETUDES 19 April 1971 [5 March 1970] 21889/71 Addition to 1207228 Heading F1B An I. C. engine fuel feed device comprises a main throttle 2 and an auxiliary throttle 3, the opening of which increases automatically in response to increasing air flow, means to inject liquid fuel downstream of the main throttle and a metering system sensitive to the auxiliary throttle position and adapted to regulate the flow of injected fuel to keep the air/fuel ratio constant. The metering system consists of a disc 18 rotated by an electric motor 45, the disc having windows 23 to allow light to pass from a source 20 to a receiver 21 in response to which the electromagnetic fuel injector operates. The position of the source 20 and receiver 21 which are attached to a diaphragm 5, and hence the fraction of each revolution for which the injector is actuated is determined by the opening of the auxiliary throttle 3. The speed of motor 25 is governed by potentiometer 48 which may be connected to either the main or auxiliary throttle. An amplifying relay 28 and an intensity limiter 29 can be inserted between receiver 21 and electromagnet 17.
