Abstract

Spray carburettors.-The air passage is constructed as a double-conical portion a the length of which is short compared with its diameter, and at the mixture-outlet side of the throat of the double-conical portion is disposed a throttle valve consisting of a sliding plate b, a circular port c in which registers with the throat when the throttle is open. The throttle is connected by a link i with a lever g and is surmounted by a bar f to which is pivoted at j a cam c which actuates a tapered or like plunger d controlling the fuel supply. The lever g is pivoted to the arm h of a bell-crank lever, the arm M of which may be adjusted by a rod l to vary the inclination of the cam c, and therefore the fuel supply relatively to that of the air. The cam and throttle are actuated by a rod m, and the plunger d is forced against the cam by a spring-loaded lever n. The tubular fuel space in which the plunger d is located contains a fuel jet and communicates with an annular conduit from which radial ducts lead to the air passage. The tubular space may be provided near the jet with an air inlet which may be controlled. According to the Provisional Specifications, the cam may be adjusted by a Bowden wire.
