Indicating by escaping jets of steam or water.- A metal tube 12 adapted to fit in ordinary gaugeglass mountings is bored with a number of holes 13 - - 16, say of 1/32 in. diameter, the difference in the shape and appearance of the steam and water jets issuing from the holes giving an indication of the position of the boiler water-level. When test cocks are fitted in place of a second gauge glass, the cocks are fitted with diaphragm plates or the like having small-bore outlets for the steam or water.
