Abstract

1297174 Photographic diffusion transfer AGFA-GEVAERT AG 2 Nov 1970 [6 Nov 1969] 52002/70 Heading G2C An image-receiving material for the silver salt diffusion transfer process comprises a supported layer containing development nuclei incorporated in a binder comprising a mixture of (i) cellulose acetate having an acetate content of 30-50 wt%, and (ii) a mixed acetal of polyvinyl alcohol with a benzaldehyde which is free from sulpho-groups and a sulphonated benzaldehyde. In the examples, bayta paper having a cellulose triacetate layer is coated with either (i), in order (a) a layer of polyvinyl alcohol/benzaldehyde/disulphobenzaldehyde partial mixed acetal, (b) a layer of the above acetal, cellulose acetate and nuclei prepared by mixing silicic acid solution, Na 2 PdCl 4 and 1- phenyl-pyrazolidone, and (c) a protective layer of carboxymethyl cellulose and nonylphenol polyglycol ether surfactant; or (2) a layer of cellulose acetate, a mixed acetal similar to that in (1) and Ag 2 S formed in situ.
