984,635. Heat-developable diffusion transfer processes. W. ZINDLER, [trading as LUMOPRINT ZINDLER KOMM-GES.] Feb. 13,1962 [Feb. 13, 1961],No. 5418/62. Heading G2C. A method of producing a non-reversed image by diffusion transfer in the dry state comprises heating an exposed silver halide emulsion, containing a developer in the presence of a substance which splits off water of crystallization, in contact with a positive emulsion containing no silver nuclei and comprising non-reversible polyvinyl alcohol, one or more dihydric or trihydric alcohols and one or more agents which reduce silver halide or form development nuclei. The positive emulsion may contain sodium sulphite, polyglycols, methylcellulose, or cellulose glycol ethers, and the reducing agent may be hydroxylamine compounds of aromatic hydrocarbons or dioxybenzenes. The substance splitting off water of crystallization may be sodium acetate.
