Abstract

1291924 Rolling KIESERLING & ALBRECHT 16 Jan 1970 [4 March 1969] 2301/70 Heading B3M A straightening machine comprises a pair of roll supports 1a, 2a of which the lower one is adjustable by an hydraulic piston-cylinder unit 16, 17 so that it can be rigidly supported on the lower crosshead 14 when straightening circular section rods or tubes and hydraulically supported when rolling non-circular section rods or tubes. A different set of rolls are mounted on the supports for straightening circular and non- circular workpieces. The hydraulic fluid is supplied through slide valves (S1), (S2), Fig. 2 (not shown), from a pump and pressure reservoir (44). The valves are operated automatically by an induction coil 41 as the rod or tube passes through. The upper roll support is initially adjusted by screws 10 driven by a worm-wheel 12. An indicator (49) is connected to the pressure line (42) from the pressure reservoir (44) to measure the straightening force.
