Abstract

1291523 Ornamenting LAVERTY & SONS Ltd 26 May 1971 [3 June 1970] 26752/70 Heading B6G A piece of fabric, e.g velvet or silk, is applied to a base fabric by (1) either (a) laying a sheet of fusible material on to one side of the piece of fabric, and applying heat and pressure to the fusible material to cause this to adhere to the piece of fabric, or (b) taking the piece of fabric already having a backing of fusible material, (2) sticking the fusible material to the base fabric with an adhesive and (3) stitching the piece of fabric to the base fabric. The fusible material may be a fusible cloth, e.g. woven from fibres consisting of or coated with thermoplastic material, or a cloth woven from non-thermoplastic fibres and coated with thermoplastic material, or a continuous sheet of thermoplastic material in which case application of heat and pressure may be applied through a further layer of fabric so that the fusible material is constituted by the thermoplastic sheet and the further fabric layer. A transferred or drawn impression may be applied to the fusible material as guide lines for cutting shapes. The adhesive may be natural or synthetic rubber latex.
