1291309 Vacuum degassing STANDARDMESSO DUISBURG GES FUR CHEMIETECHNIK mbH & CO 28 July 1970 [27 Dec 1969] 36369/70 Heading C7D A vacuum vessel for receiving a ladle 11 of molten metal separates into upper and lower portions 1 and 2, the upper having mounted on it a reaction tube 18 which when the vessel is closed dips into the molten metal. The tube may be cylindrical or frusto-conical, and its lower end may initially be closed by a deflecting cap 20. Also mounted on the upper part of the vessel may be a feed hopper 10 for additives, and a lance 9 for gas injection, while the ladle may have a porous plug 15 for introduction of a stirring gas.
