Abstract
1,233,672. Producing steel. NIPPON KOKAN K.K. June 30, 1969 [July 1, 1968], No.33017/69. Heading C7D. Non-ageing deep-drawing steel is produced by feeding into a refined steel melt in a ladle at a rate of more than 5m/sec an aluminium wire of diameter greater than 5mm and simultaneously injecting nitrogen, nitrogen-rich inert gas or argon into the melt. The proportions of aluminium and nitrogen dissolved in the melt should be 0À020- 0À050% and 0À0045-0À0080% respectively. As described, aluminium wire is fed in at the top of the ladle and the gas is injected through a porous refractory, such as brick, at the bottom of the ladle and laterally offset from the feed-in point of the wire so as to ensure stirring of the steel and additives.
