Abstract

1289878 Engine starter drives ROBERT BOSCH GmbH 11 Nov 1970 [11 Nov 1969] 53534/70 Heading F1K An engine starter drive has an axially movable rod 17 extending through a hollow shaft 13 of the starter motor, the rod carrying a starter pinion 18 and a sleeve 20 provided with a coarse-pitch screw threaded section 19. The sleeve is rigidly connected to the starter pinion and its threaded section carries a part of a clutch which is driven during the starting operation, the driving part 26 of the clutch enmeshing with a dog 14 which is rigidly connected to the armature shaft 13. The driving part 26 and the driven part 25 of the clutch are matingly engaged when the drive is engaged. Axially operable damping elements 33 are disposed between the driving part of the clutch and the sleeve. A centrifugal separation device 36 assists the release of the clutch teeth 30α, 30b.
