621,287. Turning-gear. BENDIX AVIATION CORPORATION. Feb. 13, 1947, No. 4184. Convention date, Feb. 25, 1946. Addition to 612,156. Drawings to Specification. [Class 7 (v)] In an engine starter drive comprising a pinion slidably journalled on a power shaft and connected by means of a yielding driving-connection to a control nut threaded on a screw shaft slidably journalled on the power shaft and operatively connected to a drive head fixed on the power shaft, there is provided both a disconnected torque transmitting connection between the drive head and the screw shaft and a casing fixed to the pinion and providing an abutment adapted to engage the drive head and thereby limit the engaging movement of the pinions. The mechanism described is the same as that described in the parent Specification except that a clutch is interposed between the drive head and the screw shaft. The mechanism is shown applied to both " inboard " and " outboard " starter drives.
