Abstract
1286568 Skew rolling mill FRIEDRICH KOCKS 11 Sept 1970 [13 Sept 1969] 43506/70 Heading B3M A two-roll skew rolling mill incorporates two work rolls 16 (Fig. 2), a lower work support 32 and an upper guide roller 34 supported by a cover 4, the roller 34 being removable from the mill by pivoting the cover upwardly. The cover can be pivoted by means of an hydraulic ram coupled to an eye 12 (Fig. 1) on the cover. To lessen the effort needed to pivot the cover, the roller 34 is first uncoupled from the cover. The roller is supported in a cage 36 having upstanding lugs 50, the lugs being coupled by pins 58 with hydraulic tensioner rods 54 in the cover 4. Motor driven screws 48 which cooperate with non-rotatable nuts permit vertical adjustment of the roller. To recondition or replace the roller, the work rolls 16 are first moved together so that support surfaces 64, provided on guide members 28 for the rolls, are positioned beneath the cage 36. The cage is then lowered on to the surfaces, and the rods 54 are moved downwardly to allow removal of the pins 58. The cover can then be pivoted upwardly to give access to the roller. The new or reconditioned roller is installed in the mill in a similar manner.
