The lowest of the rods 22b folds the cover panel 32 of the blank over the goods as the blank is moved by the plunger 50. Glue guns 108 apply glue to the flaps 42 which have been previously folded inwardly by the blocks 24 and then a pair of vertical plates 112, convergingly slanted towards the carriage 52, fold flaps 44, 46 over the glued flaps 42. The carriage 52 moves the partially erected blank enclosing the goods laterally to the direction it was moved by the plunger 50 such that glue may be applied by a glue gun (144, Fig. 8) to the front panel 36 of the blank, and the flap 48 may be engaged by a plough (145, Fig. 8) and secured to the panel 36. The closed box is then pushed into a vertical drying chamber (58, Fig. 10) by a vertically movable plunger 56 mounted above the chamber. The boxes are accumulated in the drying chamber until it is full, whereupon the lowermost box is ejected by a horizontally movable plunger (59, Fig. 10) to make room for the next box formed by the machine.
