Abstract

1283449 Erecting buildings T N LJUNG 24 Nov 1970 55940/70 Heading E1S A method of erecting buildings involves casting floor slabs 2 and bearing walls 3 in alternate horizontal layers on top of each other, and then raising the slabs, erecting the walls thereon and finally placing them in position. The walls are hinged to the adjacent (higher or lower) floor slabs, and hoisted into position using temporary columns by means of jacks 7 and lifting rods, or lifting beams 4 in the case of the top slab. With lower-hinged walls (Fig. 9), the walls 3 are automatically raised into position by hooks 16 on trolleys 15 running on rails on a higher slab, with upperhinged walls, the walls are dropped into position from a temporary fixing 12, Fig. 6. All the slabs after the top slab are lifted into position via their associated, erected bearing walls, for load-distribution purposes. Mortar 9 is used under the bottom-hinged walls, Fig. 7, which have protective lower channel edging 20.
