Abstract

1,202,320. Beam shuttering. P. SCHRECK. 16 July, 1968 [18 July, 1967; 11 June, 1968 (2)], No. 33907/68. Heading E1S. Shuttering for a post-tensioned I-beam 9 forming part of a road bridge comprises side shutters 1 and 2 and a base shutter 3 fixedly connected to shutter 1, and detachably connected to shutter 2, the shuttering being used for casting laterally adjacent beams by moving shutters 1 and 3 horizontally, and lifting shutter 2 up, moving it horizontally and then lowering it into position. The shuttering can be moved longitudinally on lattice girders 21 arranged to slide within the hollow side shutters 1, 2. Each side shutter comprises annular transverse panels 10, radiators 14 for heating the concrete, and longitudinal prestressing members 13 which are arranged linearly or in a curve, and can give the shutter an initial camber to compensate for the weight of the beam. The shuttering face of the side shutter forming the under side of the upper flange of the beam may comprise a separate panel 30 (Fig. 4, not shown) which can be pivoted with respect to the shutter to alter the shape of the flange and to facilitate the stripping of the shutter.
