1379018 Subaqueous structures NATIONAL RESEARCH DEVELOPMENT CORP 23 Nov 1971 [24 Nov 1970] 55904/70 Heading E1H The supporting pile 1 of a pier or drilling deck positioned in a water flow 4 is provided with at least one longitudinal fin 2 asymmetric to the water flow, to reduce oscillations of the pile caused by the water flow past it. Other fins e.g. 3 may be provided to combat e.g. tidal flows in the reverse direction. Preferred relative dimensions and angular dispositions of the fins relative to the pile and the current flow are given.
