Abstract
1337601 Offshore structures DEEP OIL TECHNOLOGY Inc 29 March 1971 8104/71 Heading E1H A floating offshore well platform 11 is provided with a submerged buoyant stabilising structure 16, the vertices of which are connected by slightly inclined tension lines 18 to anchors 17. The constituent members 34, 37 of structure 16 are of a substantially oval cross section having an upright major axis between 1.2 and 2.5 times the length of the minor axis. Small lateral movements of platform 11 may be performed by adjusting the tension in one or more of the lines 18, and/or by adjusting the position of the centre of gravity or centre of buoyancy of the structure. The structure is stated to be stable in operation so that even if one of the tension lines should fail, it will not overturn.
