Abstract
936,438. Pontoons. BETEILIGUNGS-UND PATENTVERWALTUNGSGESELLSCHAFT. April 12, 1962 [April 13, 1961], No. 14250/62. Class 113. A pontoon comprises a base 1 and side and end walls 2, 3 hinged to the base for folding from an operational position, Figs. 1, 4, to a transport position, Figs. 5 and 2, in which they overlap and seals 5 between the gaps, the base 1 being a hollow buoyant box of thickness such that the height of the pontoon in the transport condition does not exceed one third the height in the operational condition and the buoyancy of the base being such that the depth of submersion of the pontoon in the unloaded state is less than the thickness of the base. Fig. 6 is a cross-section through two pontoons coupled together at 9 and having struts and ties 7, 8. Fig. 7 is an assembly of two central pontoons 10, a horizontal end pontoon 11 and a front pontoon 12 directed obliquely upwards.
