Abstract

1281834 Dry shavers PHILIPS ELECTRONIC & ASSOCIATED INDUSTRIES Ltd 28 Aug 1969 [31 Aug 1968] 42924/69 Heading B4B A dry-shaver comprising a shaving head 2 having a movable cutter 10 held in contact with a shear plate 6 by a first spring 39 and a second spring 33 arranged to act on the shear plate independently of the cutter so as to resiliently support the shaving head. The second spring 33 is supported between a shaft 23 connected to a drive motor and a shoulder on a driving shaft 1, an upper part 22 of the latter being provided with a convex surface 31 for engaging a surface 26 on the shear plate. The portion 22 is of square cross-section and drivingly connects with a correspondingly-shaped aperture in the cutter 10. The shaft 1 is also in driving connection at 24 with the shaft 23 so as to be capable of axial movement. Additional shaving heads 7, 8, 9 may be telescopically mounted about the head 6 and each drivingly connected to the shaft portion 22. In a modification the spring 33 may be replaced by an annular plate having three equispaced spring fingers (35, Fig. 2). The pressure of the second spring 33 may be adjustable. The several heads are coupled together in their extremes of movement by means of shoulders on one head engaging with one or other of two spaced stops on the adjacent head.
