Abstract

598,665. Dry shavers. KONRAD SOC. ANON., H. Jan. 1, 1945, Nos. 75 and 76. Convention dates, March 8, 1944, and June 2, 1944. [A Specification was laid open to inspection under Sec. 91 of the Acts, June 21, 1945.] [Class 131] In a dry shaver having several cutting blades rotating under a guard and co - operating with different coaxial zones of the cutter the cutting blades are axially yieldable independently of one another. The drive from the motor in the handle 1 is transferred by the drive shaft 23 and coupling rod 3, supported by ball bearings 8 in the bearing support 2, to a sleeve 12 held coaxially to the coupling rod 3 by a shouldered screw 11. The sleeve 12 ends in a plate 13 carrying eight blades 14 and two pins 15 driving the smaller plate 16 which has four blades 17. The plates 13, 16 are independently urged by springs 18, 19 towards the guard 20 which is fixed to the sleeve 21 by the ring 22. A cover 24 prevents the cut hairs from entering the motor. In a modification tongues from a driven plate enter notches cut in coaxial sleeves each of which carries a series of cutter blades and each of which is spring- urged towards the guard. The guard may be constructed as described in Specification 598,664 in which the radial thickness of the guard teeth varies from a maximum at the base to a minimum at the top.
