Abstract

1280033 Rolling mills MASCHINENUND WERKZEUGBAU GmbH 18 July 1969 [19 July 1968] 36206/69 Heading B3M A rolling mill stand is provided with removable inserts 12 located between each spindle thrust bearing 8 and associated chock 4 of an adjustable working or backing roll of the stand, the inserts being removable in order to allow the rolls of the mill to be changed. Each bearing 8 is located beneath a screw-down spindle 7 and has cylindrically shaped lower bearing surfaces 14. Corresponding surfaces are provided on the associated chock 4. After releasing a roll balancing unit which acts on the chocks, the inserts can be pivoted sideways to the dotted positions shown. The inserts are carried on pivoted arms having intermeshing sectors 17 at their upper ends. The arms at each end of the roll are moved in synchronism by an actuating rod 18.
